Landscapes

Painting landscapes is one of my favorite things to do and trees are special subjects.  Surely they each have a story.  I am inspired by trees and their strength and perseverance.  They stand tall with strong roots.  We must all stand tall and appreciate our roots.

Florals

I was hesitant to paint flowers for a long time. Then I began Kelli Folsom's online classes two years ago. The process began to make sense and I haven't stopped enjoying flowers. The variety is endless and I'm never at a loss for subjects.  I am only at a loss for words of how beautiful nature can be.

Iconic Maine

Maine is one of my favorite places to visit, with breath taking scenery at every turn.  From forests to mountains to oceans, exquisite nature surrounds you in its soothing embrace.

Wildlife

I always enjoyed watching ducks and geese waddle around the preserves I visited.   When I was at a loss to settle on a landscape setting to paint, there they were ready to be subjects.  I really love them. There's something about their personalities and how they take care of each other.

Still Life

Another area of endless subjects to paint is the still life.  From the cutting board scraps in my kitchen to the elegant vases and pitchers, there's always a challenge. I tend to change my approach depending on the subject. I usually approach food stuff in a looser, sketchy manner.  There's no set up involved, I paint them as I find them. More elaborate set ups tend to be detailed and I take a deliberate approach. Like setting a table for special guests.
